Guillermo Zaragoza: WAFA head coach happy with Bechem United draw

Written by ...

Head coach of West Africa Football Academy, Guillermo Zaragoza is happy with his side’s goalless draw against Bechem United on Sunday saying they played against older and more physically stronger players.

“We are happy with the point we took, with the draw, it’s not an easy place to come, the environment.

“We are happy because we are a young team and to come and play against older players, some of them are maybe 10-years older and physically they are so much bigger than us.

“But we came in here, we took a point, we were brave and we have to be happy because I think it’s the first point that someone takes from here all year so we have to be happy,” Guillermo Zaragoza said at a post match press conference.

“To be honest, we kind of stayed away from our game, the way we play at home is completely different because of the pitch surfaces as well.

“So I think when we go away, we can compete with anybody maybe playing a different type of football, more defensive.

“But when we are home, we are completely different so I’m glad that we can alternate between playing one style and the other.”

The Spaniard added. The Academy boys held the Hunters to a stalemate at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park in week 14 of the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League.

WAFA have not lost a game since losing 1-0 to leaders and record holders, Asante Kotoko in week 10 but their general performance have been far from impressive in their last four games.

They have collected six points out of a possible 12 which leaves them in 17th on the league table with 14 points. They have an accumulation of three wins, five draws and six defeats out of 14 league games this season.

They have yet another tough task in week 15 when they host premier league new boys, Gold Stars at the Sogakope Park on Sunday, January 30.
