Written by ...

The Management of Asante Kotoko has distanced club head coach, Prosper Narteh Ogum from national team assignments.

Doctor Ogum is one of the smartest trainers in Ghana with stints at Elmina Sharks, Karela United, Ebusua Dwarfs. His best works have been at West Africa Football Academy where he guided them to a 10th place in the truncated 2019/20 league before subsequently finishing 3rd last season. He has steered record Ghana Premier League holders, Asante Kotoko to the top of the 2021/22 league season on 30 points from 13 matches with an outstanding game against rivals, Hearts of Oak.

With the Black Stars coaching job now vacant following the departure of Serbian trainer Milovan Rajevac, names of several coaches have been linked to the job. Communication Director of Kotoko, David Obeng Nyarko says the lecturer-cum coach will not be allowed to take up the Black Stars job.

“Prosper Ogum has a running contract with Asante Kotoko. “There’s a project ongoing at Asante Kotoko and the coach fully shares in the vision of the project. “At the moment he can’t leave the project for another work that’s the job of the Black stars. He has achieved a lot & he’s doing well at Asante Kotoko. “Prosper Nartey Ogum is under contract at Asante Kotoko & he’s still the head of the technical team of Asante Kotoko.” David Obeng Nyarko on Akoma fm. Asante Kotoko will next engage Accra Great Olympics at the Baba Yara Stadium on Friday in week 15.
