Written by ...

Hearts of Oak returned to winning ways last Sunday against a dwindling King Faisal at the Accra Sports Stadium in week 15 after suffering a slim 1-0 loss against Karela in the week prior.

The record FA Cup holders, who are bent on defending the league title won last season with 61 points, put one goal past the “Insha Allah” Boys through a thunderous strike by striker, Kwadwo Obeng Junior. The squad presented by coach Samuel Boadu was a medley of youth and experience with a member, Salim Adams adjudged the MVP of the game. The former New Edubiase midfielder has talked about the need for the fans to rally behind the team for more success.

“The fans should rally behind us and everything shall be fine,” Salim Adams told StarsTimes. “Coach Samuel Boadu told us to be consistent because losing away as well home does not augur well for the team. “If we want to defend the title then we should work hard. “We need to win away and home games that’s why we played well [against King Faisal].” Salim Adams added.

Salim Adams has admitted that he needs to work hard so as to command a regular shirt in Samuel Boadu’s squad. “I need to work hard so that I can be part of the first team.” Hearts of Oak have had mixed results this term – raking home six wins, five draws and three defeats on the road to clocking 23 points in 5th position. Hearts of Oak, 2000 CAF Champions League winners have an outstanding fixture against rivals, Asante Kotoko in February but will next play Great Olympics in an Accra derby on Sunday, February 6 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
