Ghana legend, Mohammed Polo has cast doubt on the ability of Otto Addo and Chris Hughton to handle the Ghana’s senior national male team, the Black Stars.
The duo has been linked with the Black Stars job with ex-Ghana star, Otto Addo preferred by the FA while Hughton is reported to be the pet of the government.
The senior team job has been left vacant following the exit of Serbian trainer, Milovan Rajevac who steered the team to a group stage elimination at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
Mohammed Polo who is considered one of Ghana’s best ever dribblers, does not have much belief in the coaching capabilities of the two.
“None of them, I don’t trust any of them because I don’t know the criteria used in choosing them [Chris Hughton and Otto Addo]. “I don’t know their CV. I don’t know about their license.
“What is the license about? “What you have done as a coach [is what matters]. “So currently Otto Addo what team has he handled?”. Mohammed Polo told Free fm.
The Black Stars finished the 2021 AFCON with just a point after opening 1-0 loss to Morocco, a 1-1 draw against Gabon and a shocking 3-2 defeat to debutants, Comoros in the final group c game.
Chris Hughton, an Irish norm with a Ghanaian father has quite a good curriculum vitae predominantly from club football – having handled Newcastle United, Birmingham City, Norwich City, Brighton and Holve Albion and Nottingham Forest.
His other experiences include caretaker roles with Tottenham Hotspur, Republic of Ireland and Newcastle United.
Otto Addo on the other hand has not had much experience at the top level having served as assistant at German sides, Hamburger SV, Borussia Monchengladbach and Dortmund. He was equally an assistant at Danish club, FC Nordsjaelland and a brief spell as a scout with the Black Stars.
