In line with it’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Engen Ghana Limited, a petroleum retail company, has supported victims of the recent explosion at Appiatse, a community near Bogoso in the western part of the Republic of Ghana with relief items.

In fulfilling it’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policy, which focuses on improving livelihoods and benefiting society, the company donated fifty student mattresses, hundred bags of rice and cooking oil, two hundred and twenty five sardines and hundred mosquito nets amounting to ten thousand dollars to the Appiate community, many of whom find themselves homeless as a result of the explosion.

Speaking to the press after the short ceremony at the Head office of NADMO in Accra, the Managing Director Engen Ghana team expressed the company’s  condolences to the victims of 21st January, 2022 explosion at Apiate.

Speaking further, he indicated that, they Engen Ghana believes that, the best way of living is giving’ hence offering help to the people of Appiate in the form of much needed supplies.

He therefore used the opportunity to call on local businesses and community members who are in the position to help to do what they can to support the relief effort.

Engen Ghana Ltd. is a national petroleum retailer supplying refined petroleum products and other downstream-related services to both private and commercial customers around the country.

The company operates a network of over 40 service stations.

Engen Ghana Ltd. was acquired by Mocoh Ghana Ltd. in 2019.

Receiving the relief items, the Deputy Director-General of National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Mr. Abu Ramadan thanked Engen Ghana for their kind gesture as government puts in measures to restore victims of the explosion to their normal lives.

According to him, this gesture came at the right time to support the victims and their families.

He however appealed to corporate institutions and individuals to donate other food stuffs like yam, plantain, beans since rice is in abundance.

“We have enough rice in stock that, the victims are calling for other food stuffs to supplement available bag of rice to their disposal”, he he noted

Mr. Abu Ramadan assured the Engen Ghana Limited team of proper distribution of the relief items to the victims of Appiate explosion.

Ghanaians were thrown into a state of mourning on Thursday, January 21, 2022, when a vehicle carrying mining explosives exploded on its way to a mining site after it was allegedly hit by a tricycle.

The explosion resulted in the destruction of several houses, rendering the occupants homeless.

Thirteen people were confirmed dead with over 50 people sustaining varying degree of injuries.
