“We are on a mission to inspire many Ghanaians through eduction”-Lebanese Ambassador

The Lebanese Ambassador to Ghana , Maher Kheir has reiterated that, the Lebanese Community in Ghana is on a mission, a mission to inspire many Ghanaian students  by providing them with scholarship opportunities in various academic studies.

This he believes is the surest way to build socio-economic of the Ghanaian economy and that of Lebanon.

According to him, it is their desire to contribute to the glowing future Ghana aspire indicating that “this desire is inspired by the Lebanese spirit which promotes diversity and pluralism to unite cultures for mutual development.

The Lebanese Ambassador made these remarks at a Scholarship Ceremony held at the auditorium of the Law faculty, University of Ghana Legon, Accra.

The 9th consecutive edition saw 13 brilliant students studying Law at different level at the University of Ghana, Legon awarded scholarships to enable them to complete their legal eduction at the University.

The Lebanese Community he explained who are an essential part of the Ghanaian social fabric feel strongly involved in promoting education.

Stressing that, development however, can only be achieved in a stable society where there’s respect for Rule of Law saying “show me a country with working laws,I will show you a nation  with hope and a promising future.

” In today’s chaotic world, law and order are a necessity”, reiterated.

This above principle he admitted had established Ghana as one of the most democratic countries in Africa adding that this has attracted many investors to expand the Ghanaian economy.

“That’s a major reason why the Lebanese people since 2013 continue to support students in the legal field through its scheme”, he acknowledged.

Over 9years, the Lebanese Embassy has supported more than 250 students from institutions like Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ), KNUST, and University of Ghana and would soon be supporting students from the School of Languages (GIL) and the Performing Arts School, Legon.

The Diplomat assured that, “As we work to create light for others, we naturally light our own paths, so we won’t stop with media, law, language and arts students, we’ll continue to expand to include many more disciplines as we can”.

The Lebanese Ambassador used the ceremony to express his appreciation to the lecturers and students of the Law Faculty of the University for their co-operation over years.

Stressing ” Together we can create change, a Change that guarantees equality, justice, prosperity and peace for everyone and we a how’ve this goal, we reach the edge of freedom”.

Expressing his appreciation and support of the Lebanese Community in Ghana over the years, the Dean of the Faculty of Law of the University of Ghana, (UG), Legon, Prof. Raymond Atuguba noted that, the scholarship has strengthened the fraternal relations between Ghana and Lebanon.

Explaining that, such collaborations between nations were necessary for the pursuit of mutual development especially at this time in human history.

The Dean of the Law Faculty lauded the Lebanese Community for their commitment irrespective of the current economic challenges globally.

However, he appealed for the Scholarship to be widened to cover many less privileged students hence bringing the education gap.

The awardees for Level 200 were Nutakor Wmenyo AFI, Kassim Dion Akosua, Sackey Keren Naa Amoatsoo, and Oduro Maame Akua Otenewaa, for Level 300, they were WowdoAbigail Nakuor, Coffee Chelsea Boaduwaa, Tekyi-Acheampong Jasmine and Armah Ohenewa Asantewaa

The rest Level 400 were Agboli Divine Selase, Gbedy Davina Seyram, Boateng Julius, Mensah Eugenia Awusi.
