Hearts of Oak: Key players to miss Super Clash against Asante Kotoko

Written by ...

Accra Hearts of Oak have been dealt a big blow ahead of their week seven outstanding clash against arch rivals, Asante Kotoko.

The Phobians host their bitter rivals at the Accra Sports Stadium to draw the curtains down on the first round of the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League season.

Hearts of Oak won the treble last season but have been far from impressive this term where they have clocked just six wins, six draws and four defeats much to the chagrin of the club’s following.

They have managed to claw home 24 points in the process placing on the 8th spot on the league log with an outstanding week seven fixture against rivals, Asante Kotoko in Accra.

Asante Kotoko on the other hand have been the best side this term where they sit atop of the league table with 36 points from 16 games.

They have raked home 11 wins, three draws and just two losses this season with an outstanding clash against Hearts of Oak on Sunday.

The two clubs all need the three points as badly as possible with Kotoko needing to break their eight year league trophy jinx.

Hearts of Oak need the three points to cut down the points gap as they aim to get closer to the top four chase.

Hearts of Oak won the treble last season – the league, the MTN FA Cup and an automatic annexation of the Super Cup as a result of the double last season.

Hearts of Oak however will be without some key players ahead of the all important clash on Sunday.

The key players include, central defender Robert Addo Sowah who has picked up an injury. Other players to be sidelined include midfield talisman, Salifu Ibrahim and deputy captain, Mohammed Alhassan.

It is such a big blow for the Phobians ahead of that all important clash on Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium.
