The 2021-22 Ghana Premier League season is not painting a good picture about West Africa Football Academy – a club that finished third last season.

The academy boys have now suffered back to back losses against King Faisal with the first leg ending 1-0 at the Baba Yara Stadium and the second producing a 2-1 defeat on Friday at the Sogakope Park.

Osman Ibrahim and Mawuli Wayo got the two goals for the “Insha Allah” Boys with WAFA central defender, Konadu-Yiadom coming through with the equalizer in between. Guillermo Zaragoza is head coach of WAFA and he explains their week 18 loss to King Faisal.

“You know I told the boys before the game, this team likes to play on the counter attack and two counter attacks, two goals.

“So it’s nothing new, it’s not a surprise we knew that they could beat us this way and congratulations to King Faisal and we just have to learn from this and continue moving forward,” Guillermo Zaragoza told StarTimes.

“You know we have to keep moving forward, you know we are a young team. “So it’s a learning experience for sure but we just have to keep going, we will fight till the end.” Zaragoza added.

WAFA have been poor from the start of the season – claiming a paltry five points from their opening five games.

They currently sit 16th on the league table with 18 points from 18 games of the 2021/22 season. The task looks extremely difficult as they will be on the road down south for match day 19 against defending champions, Hearts of Oak at the Accra Sports Stadium in a rescheduled fixture.
