14,000 Electrical wiring professionals receive training from Energy Commission

The Energy Commission has trained 14,000 electrical wiring professionals across the country as part of the drive to regulate electrical wiring in the country.

The Commission in this regard has also advised property owners to recheck all wiring structures after 10 years of usage to ensure safety to avoid unexpected electrical failures and fire outbreaks.

This came to light at the launch of the 10th-anniversary celebration of the electrical wiring program in Accra under the theme, “Celebrating a decade of regulating the electrical wiring industry in Ghana”.

In attendance were players in the electrical sector such as Tropical Cable and Conductors Limited, Nexans Kabel Metal Limited, Service Mechanized Limited, Kissidoff Company Limited among others.

The Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr. Herbert Krampah in an address applauded the Commission saying 10 years is a great milestone and again congratulated all stakeholders in the electrical value chain for their respective commitments to bringing reforms and sanity to the electrical wiring of facilities across the country.

He said the country has witnessed tremendous growth and safety in the electrical wiring industry and explained that the exercise has made an enormous impact on the works of the Commission and is worth celebrating the anniversary.

Mr. Krampah urged stakeholders to forge close collaboration with the Commission to enable them to receive the necessary support from the government in the delivery of wiring services to clients as his ministry will continue to support the goods works of the Commission.

The Executive Secretary of the Commission, Ing. Oscar Amonoo-Neizer said the Commission will continue to scale up the training of electrical wiring applicants for them to become professionals in their chosen working fields of endeavor.

Chairman of the Energy Commission, Professor Ebenezer Oduro-Owusu said the country will be a safe place in its electrical regime as plans are far advanced to introduce more programs and initiatives.

The occasion was also used to cut the anniversary cake amidst pomp and pageantry to the admiration of participants.
