Police Ladies defeated champions Ampem Darkoa Ladies in the quarterfinal of the Women’s FA Cup on Sunday, extending their stellar performance in the competition.

Police Ladies took the lead through Juanita Aguadze in the eighth minute, but Latifa Abesik of the visitors equalized in the 52nd. In the 57th minute, Sophia Mabena Agyaakwa, a replacement, scored Police Ladies’ second goal of the match.

Resiliently, Police Ladies held on for a 2:1 victory despite Champions Ampem Darkoa Ladies missing a penalty to tie the score.

After their match ended 1-1 in normal time, Police Ladies will take against Supreme Ladies, who defeated Nasara Ladies 4:1 on penalties.

Division One League team Epiphany Warriors defeated Jonina FC 2-1 in a thrilling match at the Auntie Aku AstroTurf to advance to the semi-final.

Epiphany Warriors’ victory was cemented by goals from Sonia Opoku in the 61st and Leticia Adjei in the 112th minute of extra time. In the 85th minute, Jonina FC’s Eunice Kpentey scored from the penalty spot, but it was insufficient to change the result.

The only Division One League team competing in the Women’s FA Cup is Epiphany Warriors, who will take on Army Ladies in the semi-final in an attempt to win the trophy.
