Graduants in the diaspora who desires to do their National Service in Ghana can now do it finally.
This disclosure was made by the Director of Diaspora Affairs at the Presidency, Mr. Akwasi Awua-Ababio.
This, according to Akwasi Awua-Ababio, will allow second generations living abroad to reconnect to their motherland.
Speaking at the Ghana Diaspora Celebration and Homecoming Summit 2019 in Accra revealed that the Diaspora Affairs Secretariat have reached an agreement with the National Service secretariat to enable diaporans who desire to come home to do their national service.
“This strategy provides a demonstrable commitment to encourage second generations living abroad to reconnect to the motherland”, he remarked.
According to the Diaspora Affairs Secretariat Director, Mr. Awua-Ababio indicated that, government is dedicated in addressing the challenges of diasporans.
“We are fully aware of the difficulties of many of our compatriots living abroad face when they return home, at the diaspora affairs office, we are committed to support you continuously as you contribute in diverse ways towards Ghana’s development”, he asserted.
The Ghana Diaspora Celebration & Homecoming Summit 2019 (GDHS’19) is a four-day event recognizing and celebrating the immense contributions to nation building by the Ghanaian Diaspora.
The event will not only highlight past contributions but will focus on present contributions as well, whiles furthering the advocacy for political, economic, and all other systems and policies that would facilitate future contributions by the Ghanaian Diaspora.
In light of the fourth centennial commemoration of the arrival of enslaved Africans in the western hemisphere, this year’s event recognizes that the Ghanaian Diaspora extends beyond Ghanaian citizens or nationals and their immediate relatives.
It also includes others outside the borders of Ghana, with roots to, or a strong vested interest in the country.
