To enhance the studies of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) in Asikam Presbyterian Primary School in the Abuakwa South Municipality, Van Moorhouse Foundation (VMF) has commissioned a 20-seater Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Laboratory to foster technological education in the school.
The school used to have about 3 computers which were in poor condition, therefore, were not able to support the study of ICT in the school.
The ICT lab was refurbished and commissioned by the Van Moorhouse Foundation (VMF) with the support of the Swiss Embassy in Ghana.

Mr. Habib Mohammed, the Abuakwa South Municipal Coordinating Director, said the refurbishment of the ICT lab is a good attempt to help students align themselves with the changing world of globalization and digitization.
“This is the right step we are taking in order to build the capacity of children even as they grow to catch up with the digitization we are talking about”, he noted.

Mr. Mohammed said the municipality is ready to contribute to any developmental projects that other organizations would initiate for the success of the municipality.
Mr. Daniel Y. Hienno, the Abuakwa South Municipal Director of the Ghana Education Service encouraged the school to practice a maintenance culture to ensure the longevity of the computers.
He asked parents to ensure that their wards were always in school to make good use of the computers which had been provided for them.

The educational director also commended Van Moorhouse Foundation (VMF) for their numerous supports, especially in education and sports in their municipality, and encouraged other non governmental organizations to emulate what VMF has done.
Dr. Osei Osbon, the Director of Programs and Administration of Van Moorhouse Foundation listed some of the work done in the school which includes the provision of 116 dual desks, painting of the entire school building, and refurbished of their mentee’s rooms, and acknowledged the countless support from Mr. Kwaku Boateng a native from the town who lives in Canada as well as educational stationaries.
In quest to ensure quality education, Dr, Osbon revealed that, with support from LCR Energy company in the UK, VMF will be providing another ICT lab for Asikam Presby Junior High School (JHS) in the near future.
To ensure effective use of the facility as well as proper maintenance, he noted that, a monitoring and evaluation system would be instituted.

Explaining that, a quarterly report on the condition of the computers and facility would be be sent to the organization in efforts to ensure the computer lab serves it purpose.
On his part, Mr. Michael Sakyi, ICT teacher of the Asikam Presbyterian School said four years ago the school had only three computers which became faulty and broke down, hence hindered the study of ICT.
This he said affected the students in practical use of computers, hence, affecting their academic productivity.

However, Mr. Sakyi assured VMF of good use of the computers in educating the students in all educational areas that require the use of computers.
Van Moorhouse Foundation (VMF) is a non-profit charitable organization established to improve and enhance lives by offering support, through donations, education, sports and free health checks to those living in impoverished communities in Ghana.

VMF also enhanced the development and wellbeing of less privilege in society irrespective of their background.
Van Moorhouse Foundation (VMF) used the donation to express it’s gratitude to everyone that offered their assistance to make this project a reality for the pupils of Asikam Presby Primary school.
