The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has congratulated the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on their successful presidential primaries, which saw Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia emerge as the party’s candidate for the 2028 presidential election. The NDC also commended the Ghana Police Service for maintaining peace and security during the process.
In a statement issued in Accra, NDC National Chairman, Hon. Johnson Asiedu-Nketiah, welcomed the collaboration between the NPP and other political parties in strengthening Ghana’s democracy. He also noted the reconciliatory statements from unsuccessful candidates and hoped they would follow through on their commitments.
This gesture by the NDC reflects Ghana’s growing tradition of peaceful transitions and respect for democratic processes. The statement has been welcomed by many Ghanaians, who see it as a sign of maturity and commitment to democratic values.
Other parties, including the People’s National Convention (PNC) and the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), have also congratulated the NPP on their successful primaries.
The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has also praised the NDC for their congratulatory message, saying it promotes peace and stability in the country.
The NDC’s statement is seen as a positive development in Ghana’s political landscape, and many are hoping that it will set the tone for a peaceful and issue-based campaign leading up to the 2028 elections.
