Accra, Ghana — Ghana Water Ltd (GWL) has inaugurated the Board of Directors of G-Water Bottling Limited, charging members to transform the company into one of Ghana’s most trusted, visible and commercially successful bottled water brands.

The inauguration forms part of Ghana Water’s broader strategy to diversify revenue streams, strengthen business operations and create sustainable value through investments beyond its traditional mandate of potable water production and distribution.

G-Water Bottling Limited, a subsidiary of Ghana Water Ltd, was established to manufacture, package and distribute safe, high-quality drinking water while operating on sound commercial principles.

The newly inaugurated Board comprises Mr. Agbesi Nutsu (Chairperson), Dr. Hadisu Alhasan (Executive Director), Mr. Sulemana Alhassan Alancash (Non-Executive Director), Mr. Joseph Zefo Kero (Non-Executive Director), and Madam Innocentia Kuupiel (Chief Executive Officer).

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony in Accra, Mr. Eric J. Biliguo, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ghana Water Ltd, described G-Water Bottling Limited as a critical component of the company’s long-term growth and transformation agenda.

According to him, the G-Water brand has already earned considerable public confidence due to its quality, purity and taste, but has yet to fully realise its commercial potential because of limited market penetration and availability.

“The company has built significant goodwill among consumers, but the challenge now is to scale operations, expand market access and establish G-Water as a leading brand in Ghana’s highly competitive bottled water industry,” he said.

Mr. Biliguo urged the Board to provide strategic leadership and governance capable of driving business growth, operational efficiency and profitability.

Diversification Strategy

Managing Director of Ghana Water Ltd, Mr. Adam Mutawakilu, said the creation of G-Water Bottling Limited presents an opportunity for the company to leverage its expertise in water production and quality assurance to compete effectively in the bottled water market.

He noted that the subsidiary forms part of Ghana Water’s broader transformation agenda aimed at diversifying revenue sources and creating additional value for the company and the country.

“The establishment of G-Water Bottling Limited allows us to build on our strengths in water production and quality management while generating additional revenue, creating jobs and contributing to national economic development,” he stated.

Mr. Mutawakilu added that the company’s expansion into the bottled water industry would also strengthen the Ghana Water brand and position it to take advantage of growing consumer demand for safe and reliable drinking water.

Commitment to Growth

Responding on behalf of the Board, Mr. Agbesi Nutsu, Chairman of G-Water Bottling Limited, pledged the Board’s commitment to providing strategic direction and effective oversight to ensure the company’s success.

He said Board members were fully aware of their responsibility to build a commercially viable and sustainable enterprise while maintaining the highest standards of quality and consumer trust.

“We recognise that G-Water Bottling Limited is not merely a commercial enterprise but a strategic subsidiary of Ghana Water Ltd with the responsibility of manufacturing, packaging and distributing safe, reliable and high-quality drinking water,” he said.

Mr. Nutsu assured stakeholders that the Board would work closely with management to expand the company’s market presence, improve operational performance and strengthen its competitive position within the industry.

Positioning G-Water for National Growth

Industry observers say the inauguration of the Board signals Ghana Water’s determination to unlock new business opportunities and maximise the value of its subsidiaries as part of efforts to become a modern, diversified and financially sustainable utility.

With growing demand for packaged drinking water across Ghana, officials believe G-Water Bottling Limited is well positioned to leverage the reputation and technical expertise of Ghana Water Ltd to become a major player in the country’s bottled water sector.

The company is expected to focus on expanding production capacity, improving distribution networks and increasing market visibility as it pursues its ambition of becoming one of Ghana’s leading bottled water brands.
