Many has shown keen interest in the upcoming parliamentary seat elections of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) across the country as the party gear towards victory come 2020 general elections.
One of such person to contest for the party’s Parliamentary Candidate (PC) for elections 2020 in the Bortianor/Ngleshie Amanfro Constituency is Mr. Felix Akwetey Okle who many describes as the peoples’ choice, hence can wrestle and win back the lost seat from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) Alhaji Habib Saad who is seen as a ‘useless’ person occupying the Bortianor/Ngleshie Amanfro (BNAC) Constituency seat.
Bortianor/Ngleshie Amanfro Constituency in the Ga South Municipal Assembly, widely dominated by fishing communities was carved out of the then Weija Constituency in 2010 by the then government in its quest to ensure rapid development and growth of the people.
This Constituency since its creation has been one of the strong holds of the main opposition party that, it won the parliamentary seat hands down in its maiden parliamentary elections in 2012 with Hon. Bright E. K. Demordzie who again decided to represent the party in the 2016 general elections but lost to the incumbent MP due to some actions and inactions of both the then constituency executives and himself as the candidate which did not go down well with the constituents irrespective of been the stronghold of the NDC, hence affected his votes and that of the flag bearer, John Dramani Mahama in his quest to retain the presidency.
On the way forward, the constituents believe among those who have shown interest to contest the parliamentary seat, this affable, human centred and easy to approach gentleman, Mr. Felix Akwetey Okle is the best choice and can do the magic of restoring hope of the future of the constituency which has not seen the needed development, infrastructure and growth under the current Member of Parliament (MP).
Mr. Felix Akwetey Okle according to constituents has the requisite skills and abilities in salvaging the bad image of the party among floating voters in the constituency as well as winning the ultimate prize; the parliamentary seat from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the upcoming general elections in 2020.
Since the party lost the 2016 general and the parliamentary seat in 2016, Mr. Felix Akwetey Okle have been on the grounds rendering assistance, support as well as a listening ear to the needs and wants of the constituents which is rare in our political circles.
They believe that, he been able to connect as well relate to them during the dark days of party will be of help and assistance when given the nod to contest for the parliamentary seat where much resources and opportunities will be at his disposal.
Though MPs are not agent of developmental works or projects, they play critical role in lobbying for projects that will enhance the wellbeing of the people such as schools, hospitals, construction of roads, skills training and job opportunities.
Mr. Felix Akwetey Okle is an enthusiastic activist with golden interest in weeding out poverty and a special niche to empower young people to excel physically, economically, socially, politically and technologically.
He is also an experienced entrepreneur who has worked in various fields and capabilities ranging from employee to employer in construction, imports and exports, teaching and hospitality.
Bortianor/Ngleshie Amanfro Constituency is one of the orphans constituencies under the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and will soon go for primaries to elect its parliamentary candidate for the 2020 parliamentary elections.
