UEW Afful-Broni runs 100 meters to escape Court Summons

The woes of the Vice Chancelor of University of Education, Winneba (UEW) Rev. Prof. Anthony Afful-Broni seems not to be over as he plays hide and sick with the court bailiff of the Winneba High Court, one Albert Ntie in the early hours of today.

Information reaching the newindependent online.com indicates that, the Rev. Professor took to his heels in the early hours of today to avoid been summoned with a motion on notice for judicial review in the nature of certiorari, prohibition, injunction and declaration order 55 of the High Court (Civil Procedurr) Rule, 2004 (C.I 47) at his residence on campus.

According to our sources, the Vice Chancellor upon seeing the court bailiff quickly left the VC loudge and took refuge at the mission house.

Adding that, he the VC ordered the people in the mission house to release two wild dogs caged on them, hence to scare them away.

This, our source says is the third attempt to serve him adding that, due to this, the secretariat offices have been locked up since Tuesday to now and staff refuses to receive because a strong warning as been given that, whoever receives is assured of been sacked, hence fear among the staff.

Meanwhile, the summon cited by our reporter with Suit Number E12/002/20 is a motion been moved by Alexander Afenyo-Markin ESQ, consel for and on behalf of the applicant, one Kweku Bondzie Sey with house number HK A/4, Kojo Beedu, winneba is praying the court for the following reliefs for it constitutes an “Error of law apparent on the face of the record”.

First and foremost, a declaration that the appointment of a

  1. Finance Officer in the person of Mr. Francis Obeng is in excess of jurisdiction of the Respondent institution as the said position is not vacant.
  2. An order prohibiting the Respondent from appointing Mr. Francis Obeng or any other person as the substantive Finance Officer until the final determination of Mr. Theophilus Arkorle’s suit at the Cape Coast High Court.
  3. .An order of Certiorari to quash the appointment of Mr. Francis Obeng as the finance officer of the Respondent institution as same is illegal, null, void and in excess of jurisdiction.
  4. An injunction restraining the Respondent from engaging the service of Mr. Francis Obeng as the Finance Officer and or allowing and granting access of its official financial documents to him for whatsoever purpose and whatsoever capacity at the Respondent institution until the final determination of this suit.

With regards to the said Francis Obeng, our information picked up shows that, currently, he is the deputy finance officer of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) and wants to move to the University of Education, Winneba to head the Finance department on the invitation of the Vice Chancellor of the University, Rev. Professor Anthony Afful-Broni.
