In the New Patriotic Party (NPP) bid to retain the Madina Constituency seat in the upcoming December polls, one of the contenders, Mr. Michael Mackenzie who is the immediate past Constituency Chairman has stepped down for the incumbent, Hon. Abubakar Saddique Boniface.
His action is to enable the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) to go unopposed.
The former Constituency Chairman made his announcement at the last hour to submit of his form, tothe Executives at the Constituency office in Marina.
The former Constituency Chairman who had already picked his form to contest, took the decision after a carefully thought as well heeding to numerous calls and advices from key personalities and the current Constituency Chairman.
His decision to step down for Hon. Boniface to go unpossed was joyously welcomed, hence brought unity among Madina NPP supporters including the executives.
Expressing their excitments, some of the supporters present at the party office believes this decision by Mr. Michael Mackenzie will ease their campaign as well strengthen the grassroots for victory both the Parliamentary and Presidential in the upcoming December elections.
Even though, his decision was taken at the last hour and painful, hence disappointment to his numerous supporters, Mr. Mackenzie called on them to forgive him, and assured them that, he will continue to remain focused and throw his weight behind Mr. Boniface to ensure victory for the party.
Information gathered indicates that, some of his supporters when hearing Mr. Mackenzie’s down stepping, got angry but due to the humble nature of their candidate, they have taken it in good faith.
Mr. Michael Mackenzie pledged his commitment and preparedness together with his supporters to work hard in ensuring a resounding victory for the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) Hon. Boniface to retain the Madina seat for NPP.
