Former Asante Kotoko striker, Kwame Poku says he will grab the opportunity to rejoin the Porcupine Warriors if the need arises.

Poku, who was in a blistering form for the Porcupine Warriors prior to his departure to Algeria club, USM Alger last season, has struggled with form this term due to injuries. He netted 9 goals in 20 league games last season before signing a four-and-a-half year deal with the North African top flight side in March,2021 but this season has been blighted by an injury. Kwame Poku still has soft spots for the record Ghana Premier League holders and will not hesitate to rejoin them if the opportunity comes his way.

“For now my focus is on my club[USM Alger] because as a player you should not have a divided attention. “It’s not possible to look into a bottle with two eyes so I have to focus on my club. “For now everything is in the hands of my management but if the opportunity comes for [me to rejoin] Kotoko, why not.” Kwame Poku told Fish fm. The 21-year-old joined Asante Kotoko from Division One League club, Nkoranza Warriors in 2020 and quickly hit the ground running in his debut season.

He made his senior national team debut at the FNB Stadium against South Africa in a 1-1 draw which helped Ghana seal the AFCON 2021 slot.

Asante Kotoko have really prepared for life after the ebony black striker as they currently lead the 2021/22 league table with 26 points, three better than second placed clubs, King Faisal and Aduana Stars.

The two time African champions have á week seven outstanding against arch rivals, Accra Hearts of Oak to be played in February.
