FACAFOOT: Samuel Eto’o commiserates with Cameroon national team

Ex-striker and President of the Cameroon Football Federation [FECAFOOT], Samuel Eto’o has commiserated with the national team after the defeat to Egypt.

Cameroon, five time African champions suffered a 3-1 penalty shootouts loss after a goalless draw over 120 minutes against Egypt in the semifinals at the Olembe Stadium on Thursday. The loss against the seven time holders, dashed the hopes of hosting the tournament and winning a sixth title. Eto’o, who became FECAFOOT President in December 2021, took to his Facebook page to send his placatory message to the national team.

“BRAVO Indomitable Lions for your brilliant performance at #AFCON2021. We may have not made it all the way to the finals, but our team has showed the world what us Cameroonians are capable of. This is not the end of the road. “Congratulations to our finalists Egypt and Senegal – I’m looking forward to continue celebrating African football excellence this weekend.” Samuel Eto’o wrote.

The Indomitable Lions must now fight for bronze medals against Burkina Faso who lost 3-1 to Senegal in the first semi final game on Wednesday. The third place comes up on Saturday at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium on Saturday, February 5 with the finals on Sunday, February 6 at the Olembe Stadium both at 7:00pm Ghana time.
