Experience they say is the best teacher and a couple of veterans of the game has helped the course of Ghana Premier League side, King Faisal this season.

The “Insha Allah” Boys who escaped relegation at the eleventh hour last season are now third on the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League table 29 points from 18 games.

They climbed into third after nailing West Africa Football Academy 2-1 at the Sogakope Park in week 18 to confirm their dominance over the academy boys.

Their first round meeting ended 1-0 in King Faisal’s favour at the Baba Yara Stadium in October and one of the experienced hands, Richard Akrofi who doubles as the captain opened up on their win over WAFA.

“Honestly we prepared well before coming for the game with the mentality of at least claiming a draw. “So far it helped us tactically with the counter attacking football,” Richard Akrofi told StarTimes.

“These are academy players so if you play to their style, they will outplay you and we have speedsters. “So when we get the ball, we catch them on the break.

“We said to ourselves that, we needed to close their striker, Justus Torsutsey so that passes don’t locate him.

“So I marked out the soldier [Justus Torsutsey] and that was why they could not beat us.” Richard Akrofi added.

King Faisal got their opener through Osman Ibrahim’s rebound on the 48th minute before WAFA pulled level with towering defender, Konadu Yiadom on the 65 minutes.

The visitors came back late with Mawuli Wayo’s winner to claim all three points with other second round games set to be cleared on Saturday and Sunday at various venues.
