Accra Hearts of Oak forward, Gladson Awako has urged his team mates to fight hard as the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League is not over.
The Phobians have managed to secure a good standing on the league despite starting the season on a slow note. The 21 time champions started the season with three opening draws and have gone on to lose just ones, recorded five wins and five draws with two defeats. The have claimed 20 points in 6th position after 12 matches with a week seven outstanding clash against arch rivals, Asante Kotoko to be played in February. Awako, who joined Hearts of Oak from city rivals, Great Olympics says the league is far from over for the defending champions.
“Last season is over though Hearts won every silverware, now we have to up our game if we want to win anything this season. We don’t need any distraction but rather full concentration. Now it’s about doing our talking on the pitch. “The first part of the season is still ongoing. There are new players and changes and we need to work extra hard to achieve the ultimate.“We are growing as a squad and a team. We will try as hard as we can to improve and we will try to do that over the next few months.’We know the club demands to win in every game. “We all want to make an impact. No one wants to miss any game and everyone wants to play their part and contribute to success.
“Sunday’s clash with Wonders will be a return to the Accra Sports Stadium after two weeks of being on the road. It is great playing in front of our home fans again. “Winning as a team and bringing success to this club is so important and it will only help us improve because when you win together you only want more of it” He concluded.
Hearts of Oak have a round 32 MTN FA Cup clash against second tier side, Golden Kicks at the Accra Sports Stadium on Wednesday. Their next Premier League fixture is against Karela United at the Crosby Awuah Memorial Park in Anyinase.
