In the wake of calls to remove the Board Chairman of Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), Mr. Fredie Blay, and a Member, Mr. Ahweneeh Danquah, the management of WACAM has dissociated itself from a statement issued by Civil Society Organisations calling for the removal of the above-mentioned names from the GNPC Board.

The WACAM management believes that the statement was issued “under a circumstance that is not clear to us because beyond listing names of organizations as being part of the statement, there are no signatures to authenticate the signing on to the statement by individuals who are representatives of organizations”.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by the  Associate Executive Director Mrs. Hannah Owusu-Koranteng dated 24th May, 2023.

According to the statement, “It is difficult to ascertain the individuals, or organizations that spearheaded this statement.  We want the media, Wacam members, our associates, and the public to know that Wacam is not associated with the statement.

The statement, therefore condemns the unethical methods used.

Adding that, “We hope that Wacam’s statement to dissociate itself from the referenced statement indicates our dissatisfaction with the publication”.
