Bofoakwa Tano head coach Frimpong Manso has urged Black Stars gaffer Chris Hughton to prioritize selecting dedicated and selfless players for the 2023 African Cup of Nations.

The ex-Ghana international defender’s statement follows the Black Stars’ recent 2-0 loss to Mexico and a 4-0 defeat against the USA in international friendlies.

In an interview on Time FM in Kumasi, Manso expressed concerns that some players who are committed to sacrificing for the nation do not receive call-ups.

He criticized the current Black Stars’ lack of commitment and their inability to defend effectively, likening their play to a division two side.

“These current Black Star players are not committed and not willing to sacrifice for the nation. they play as a division two side and can’t even defend balls,” he said

Manso emphasized the need for Ghanaians to hold the players accountable and not solely blame Chris Hughton for the team’s poor performance.

He believes that with passionate and committed players, the Black Stars can regain their former glory.

However, he warned that if the lackadaisical attitude continues, the team will remain in a state of underachievement.
