In his quest to ensure sanity and justice prevails at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), the Member of Parliament (MP) for Effutu constituency in the Central Region, Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin has called for the immediate action on the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) report, which indicts Prof. Afful-Broni, the Vice Chancellor of the University on issues of misappropriation.
This call by the MP was stated in a letter dated October 24, 2019, addressed to the Chairman of the University’s Governing Council.
In the letter intercepted by www.thenewindependentonline.com, the vociferous MP indicated that, since a thorough investigation conducted by the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) has exonerated the former Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mawutor Avoke and his Finance officer, Dr. Theophilus Ackorlie Senyo of any wrong doings, he sees no reason for the former Vice Chancellor not restated to run the affairs of the University.
It will be recalled that, the two were sacked for misappropriation and mismanagement of funds of UEW.
Therefore, Hon. Afenyo-Markin has called on the council to act according to the EOCO report to ensure that justice is effected on behalf of the affected parties, hence ensuring peace and tranquility prevails for effective running of the tertiary institution.
