Medeama SC Technical Director Augustine Evans Adotey has set a clear target for the club: to reclaim the Ghana Premier League title in the upcoming season.
Following their historic triumph in the 2022/23 season, the Yellow and Mauves experienced a challenging campaign last term, finishing eighth and 12 points behind eventual champions FC Samartex.
Adotey, who also guided the team through their CAF Champions League campaign, attributed their league struggles to the demands of competing in Africa’s premier club competition.
The rigorous travel schedule, which saw the team frequently journey between Cape Coast, Kumasi, and Takwa, was cited as a significant factor affecting their domestic performance.
“We had an outstanding season in the Premier League the year before, but playing away from home and the extensive travel took a toll on us,” Adotey explained. “Traveling from Kumasi to Takwa and then back to Cape Coast was quite taxing, and these factors contributed to our challenges last season.”
Despite the setbacks, Adotey remains focused on the future. “The past is behind us. Our goal now is to reclaim the title and become champions of Ghana once again by the end of this season,” he stated.
Medeama SC will be eager to put last season’s disappointment behind them as they aim to reassert their dominance in Ghanaian football.
