Police Headquarters: GIZ-Police Programme Office Commissioned

The Ghana Police Service and GIZ have commissioned an office space for the “Programme to Build and strengthen the Police Structures in Selected Partner Countries in Africa” (Police Programme) implemented by GIZ on behalf of the German Federal Foreign Office, at the National Police Headquarters today 23rd February, 2021.

The office space will facilitate the work of the programme while strengthening cooperation between Ghana and Germany.

The German Embassy represented by Ms. Andrea Grimm said that, “Security and development are interdependent; there can be no development without security”.

She continued that the programme will focus on certain reforms in police work such as training, accountability and community policing.

Speaking on behalf of the Inspector General of Police COP Mr. Nathan Kofi Boakye said that, it is the hope of the Police Administration that the programme will help to reform police training by resourcing an electronic library, assist ongoing curriculum review process and improve community policing and police accountability.

Also present at the Commissioning were Ms. Regina Bauerochse, Country Director GIZ- Ghana; Mr. Philip Niekenke, Manager Country Component, GIZ Police Programmme; COP Mr. Yaagy Akuriba; COP Mr. George Alex Mensah; COP Mrs Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo- Danquah and COP Nana Asomah Hinneh.
