President Elect Announces National Security Coordinating Team

President Elect John Dramani Mahama has announced a 6-member National Security Coordinating Team to oversee the swearing-in ceremony, with former Interior Minister Prosper Douglas Bani at the helm.

The team, which was announced in a press release signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Aide to President Elect, includes former Chief of Defence Staff, Lt. General Peter Augustine Blay, former National Security Minister Mr. Totobi Quakyi, and Former National Security Coordinator Larry Gbevlo Lartey Esq.

Other members of the team are Brigadier General Fuseini Iddrissu (rtd) and COP Nathan Kofi Boakye.

According to the press release, the team’s mandate begins on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 and will oversee the security arrangements for the inauguration ceremony.

The constitution of the National Security Coordinating Team is seen as a strategic move to ensure a seamless transition of power and a secure inauguration ceremony.

Ghanaians have welcomed the move, expressing confidence in the team’s ability to deliver a secure and incident-free inauguration ceremony.
