Assembly to arrest people for refusing to wear nose masks – MCE

The Ayawaso North Municipal Assembly says the Authorities will soon embark on an exercise to arrest people in the municipality for not wearing the nose mask due to the rising increase of Covid-19 cases across the country.
According to the Assembly, it will institute a task force to collaborate with the security agencies to ensure that rules and regulations governing the Covid-19 pandemic are well applied by the citizenry.
The Assembly have expressed worry of people not adhering to the safety protocols particularly the wearing of nose masks and have explained that the spread of the virus have claimed hundreds of lives is still in the system.
Addressing a cross section of the public on the theme “Compliance to Covid-19 Safety Protocols” at the Assembly forecourt comprising of Assembly members, Zongo Chiefs, Opoinion leaders, members of the Ghana Private Road and Transport Union (GPRTU), Imams, the clergy and the general public, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Ayawaso North Municipal Assembly Mr. Aminu Mohammed Zakaria said the move is the surest way to curb the spread of the virus.
He said government have imported different brands of vaccine and have been distributed to various health care centers across the country demonstrating the commitment to fight and address the pandemic therefore the municipality must also live up to the call to sensitize the public by urging all to take part in the vaccination exercise.

The MCE challenged the citizenry to be ambassadors of the Covid-19 pandemic and urged all to strictly adhere to the safety protocols.
In her address, the District Public Nurse of the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Yvonne Quaye wondered why people are refusing to use the nose masks and urged the media to continue to intensify the education on the pandemic, adding that statistics in the municipality have revealed that 693 people have been infected and described that the data is very worrying.
Giving an update of Covid-19 cases in the municipality, she said it has recorded 693 cases as 688 have recovered leaving 12 people dead, adding that government will continue to supply the Personal Protective Equipments (PPEs) and urged other bodies and institutions to support in that regard.
“Let’s continue to practise the safety protocols as the virus is mainly transmitted through fluids and take note of the alcohol content in the sanitizers when in use”, she advised and said the content must be 60 percent and “Practise social distancing and sanitize your door handles and avoid handshakes”, she further explained.
For her part, the Director for National Commission for Civil Education (NCCE) at the Ayawaso North, Madam Eunice Nkrumah advised parents to stop their children from the rampant visits to cafes and pointed out that most café owners do not have the PPEs at their place of work and hinted on the emerging risks among the children in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Parents must be committed to their children’s education which is key to the socio-economic development of the child”, she stated and cautioned them not to engage them in odd jobs but rather provide them with good nutritional food.
Madam Nkrumah therefore urged all cafe owners to provide PPEs in the discharge of operations and called on Ghanaians to strictly observe the safety Covid-19 protocols at all times.
