Accra Hearts of Oak suffered their defeat of the season against Karela United in week 14.
Humid Dafie’s late strike confirmed the 21 time champions to a 1-0 defeat at the Crosby Awuah Memorial Park in Anyinase on Saturday.
Hearts went into the game on the backdrop of a 4-1 victory against Eleven Wonders in week 13 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
They had lost 1-0 to Medeama in a week six outstanding fixture at the Akoon Park in Tarkwa.
The defeat leaves them still on 20 points from 13 games and an outstanding week seven fixture against Asante Kotoko to be played in February.
Hearts of Oak have had a torrid time this term after claiming a treble last season.
The continental campaign was marked by heavy defeats and slight victories. The second stage of the 2021/22 CAF Champions League saw them kicked by Morocco giants, Wydad Athletic Club via a 6-2 aggregate where the first leg ended 1-0 in Accra with the second leg producing a 6-1 finish for the Moroccans.
The CAF Confederation Cup was neither a prosperous journey despite beating Algeria side, Jeunesse Sportive de Saoura 2-0 in Accra.
The return leg in Béchar ended 4-0 with the Phobians suffering elimination by a 4-2 aggregate.
Hearts of Oak are however into the last 16 of the MTN FA Cup and retaining the title will send them back to the CAF Confederation Cup.
