The National Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has stated that the call made by the NPP Vice Presidential Candidate, Dr. Matthew Opoku-Prempeh, for Ghanaians to support the NDC and its presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama, is a genuine reflection of the current political sentiment in the country.
During a mini-campaign rally by the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Vice Presidential candidate, Dr. Opoku Prempeh, also known as NAPO, whilst introducing the parliamentary candidate of the NPP told the gathering not to forget the candidate for the area after voting for Mahama.
Asiedu Nketia argued that the encouragement from no less an NPP figure than the running mate to the flag bearer, for voters to rally behind John Mahama indicates the NPP’s own belief in Mahama’s candidacy and the NDC’s vision for Ghana’s future.
His comments were made during a campaign event aimed at engaging the people of Walimbelly in the Sissala East Constituency of the Upper West region. He aimed to strengthen the NDC’s message and connect with the local electorate.
He emphasized that voters should heed this call and focus their support on the NDC and Mahama as the elections approach.
Additionally, Asiedu Nketia noted that while Dr. Opoku-Prempeh has chosen to endorse Mahama over his party leader, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, this decision does not guarantee him becoming the Vice President.
On another note, the Vice President of the Buli Paramountcy, Kuoro Abdul-Rahman Bataah IV, stated that Ghana is at a critical juncture, highlighting the need for the NDC to ensure peace and stability.
