The President of the Ghana National Association of Farmers and Fishermen, Mr. Mike Kwetey Tetteh, has raised serious concerns about the ongoing shortage of gasoline and premix fuel, which continues to hinder the operations of stakeholders in the sector.

Speaking during his official inauguration as the newly elected president, Mr. Tetteh expressed worry over the difficulty fishermen face in acquiring fuel and oil for their activities at sea.

He announced plans to organize a national durbar to brainstorm the challenges confronting fisherfolk across the country.

According to him, many of the pressing issues are not only unknown to the government but also to some key agencies responsible for oversight.

“Your hard work and dedication, as demonstrated during last Saturday’s election, truly represent the strength and hallmark of this great association,” he remarked.

As president, Mr. Tetteh pledged to lead the association with the same strength, zeal, and commitment members have shown over the years.

He expressed optimism that, together, members can increase productivity and profit margins to contribute meaningfully to national food security.

He further assured members that the association under his leadership will address food insecurity and usher in a new era of progress and transformation, driven by significant growth in the agricultural sector.

“As I said in my speech last Saturday, no society can ever imagine a future without farmers, fishermen, and women. I shall therefore prioritize your welfare in all considerations as president of this association,” he emphasized.

Mr. Tetteh reaffirmed the association’s readiness to collaborate with the government in tackling any challenges that may arise.
