Two polling Station Executives of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Bortianor/Ngleshie Amanfro Constituency, have filed a petition against one of the aspirants of the Party parliamentary slot for the constituency, Sylvester Matthew Tetteh, alleging fraud, perjury and fabrication of documents against him.
The petition, filed by two polling station executives, indicates that, Mr. Tetteh breached the conditions set out in Article 12(7) (c) and (f) of the NPP Constitution.
To the petitioners, the National Youth Authority (NYA) Chief Executive Officer’s claim of being born at Tuba, a suburb in the Constituency is “a lie” and therefore deserves to be disqualified from the parliamentary race.
However, in an exclusive interview with this online news portal, Mr. Tetteh rubbished the claims made by the two polling station executives, calling them, “a bunch of jokers”.
To him, their claims hold no substance and would not deter him from contesting the Bortianor/Ngleshie Amanfro Constituency primary come April 25th.
“All my documents submitted met the requirements and conditions laid out by the party and the constitution,” he stressed.
He added that, his documents submitted during the filing process, was gracefully accepted by the Vetting Committee after a thorough scrutiny at the party’s office, hence the call for his disqualification is misplaced.
It would be recalled that, Mr. Tetteh, who is currently the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Youth Authority (NYA), contested on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party for Ningo-Pampram Constituency in the 2012 and 2016 parliamentary elections but lost to the NDC in that Constituency.
Speaking further, he noted that, the vetting process has been concluded in February, balloting done and that, he is number one on the ballot paper, hence making the petition a fruitless exercise.
Meanwhile, outlining the purpose for contesting the primaries, he believes that, it is time for the electorates to have a strong voice and good representation in Parliament, and that, he is the only one with that ability, especially to speak for the voiceless in the constituency.
“I will be a good leader to the constituents, especially the young people, as they seek for someone, who can speak on their behalf, work tirelessly and ensure the growth and development of the constituency”, he asserted.
Touching on some of his key plans for the constituency, Mr. Sylvester Mensah emphasized on the need to have a strong and good personality, who can champion the needs and wants of the constituents and the constituency at large.
He also indicated that, youth development in both informal and formal sector will be key on his list, revealing that, about five hundred (500) unskilled youth will soon receive skill training in their respective interest of choice.
On education, he indicated further that, an annual MP quiz will be introduced among the schools within the Constituency as a way of inculcating the habit of research, reading and learning among students.
In addition, he intends to institute an Annual Teachers’ Scheme to boost the morale of teachers as well as motivate them to give their best to the students.
To ensure all these happens, he will ensure the various educational infrastructures in the constituency is up to standard to serve the best i9nterest of the constituency.
Mr. Tetteh therefore called on the delegates to give him the mandate to be the party’s Parliamentary Candidate come April 25th to bring massive development and growth to the Constituency.
