Defending champions, Hearts of Oak will be boosted by the return of substantive captain, Fatawu Mohammed.

The long serving leader of the 21 time league holders was given a two-weeks’ suspension following breaches of his contract.

According to Kumasi based Oyerepa fm, the 29-year-old is however expected to return to training today, [January 2] after serving his ban and will certainly be an addition to coach Samuel

Boadu’s squad for the remaining first round of games. Fatawu Mohammed is in his 9th season with the Phobians after he joined them in 2010 from Real Tamale United in 2013.

He skippered the 2000 CAF Champions League winners to a treble last season with the league, FA Cup and an automatic Super Cup glory but their return to continental football was far from impressive.

The 2001 CAF Super Cup winners have equally had mixed results this term despite yet to lose at home. A record of six wins, five drawn games and three defeats sees them in 5th position on 23 points with an outstanding fixture against rivals, Asante Kotoko who they trail by 10 points to clear in February.

The 2004 CAF Confederation Cup winners have been in the news for the good reasons following the capture of former Ghana midfielder and UEFA Champions League winner, Sulley Muntari until the end of the 2021/22 league season.
