The Member of Parliament for Banda in the Bono region Mr. Ahmed Ibrahim has chastised the New Patriotic Party, NPP government for the enlistment of well know party activist into the Bureau of National Investigations,BNI in the Banda District.
Briefing the Media in Parliament, the Banda Legislator who also double as the Deputy Minority Chief Whip lambasted the government for compromising the already volatile security situation of the area with that move.
To buttress his point he explained that, a well known Wenchi NPP Constituency Youth Organiser, by name Mr. Shadrach Abrefa Manu was enlisted into the BNI just after the party won power in 2017.
He said the Wenchi NPP Youth Organiser was transferred to Banda as Director of BNI saying his presence has triggered tension in the District.
Only last week the NPP Regional Chairman Abronye DC was almost beaten up when he accompanied the Vice President Muhammadu Bawumia to Banda as part of his entourage to meet the Muslim community which he only escaped by the skin of his teeth” he asserted.
“Now if a whole presidential entourage could suffer this kind of insecurity in Banda where lies the fate of the ordinary residents “he queries.
“Mr. Manu visited me as soon as he became the District BNI operative to inform me of his new status but the unfortunate incident that greeted the Vice President entourage has plunged the District security into jeopardy” he observed.
Revealing that, the NDC youth in the region are contemplating to demonstrate against the infiltration of NPP activists into the National security apparatus.
According to him, the NPP apparatchiks presence in the various security’s operatives poses a threat to the nation’s security cohesiveness, therefore calling on the government to get rid of party activists such as Shadrach Abefa Manu from the BNI and other security concerns in the region as a whole
