The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in the Tain District of the Bono region has admonished the youth not to allow themselves to be used to cause mayhem in the country.
Madam Mariama Sina, a Gender Desks Officer for Tain District Assembly addressing pupils of the Methodist Junior High School at Nsawkaw noted that the youth are the future leaders of Ghana and hence must ensure to eschew any act that could destabilize the peace of the nation.
The Tain District Gender Desks Officer made the remarks during the Commission’s annual flagship program dubbed Citizenship Week celebration.
Speaking on the theme, 30 years of consolidating constitutional democracy; building national cohesion: the role of the youth, Madam Sina encouraged the youth to live in unity with others whilst respecting their rights.
An Assistant Civic Education Officer of the Tain District Directorate of NCCE Mr. Maxwell Baah expressed the need for the youth to be loyal to Ghana and prevent the growth of violent extremism.
She advised them to adhere to values that will cause positive attitudinal change, adding that, the youth must uphold and defend the constitution and the laws of Ghana.
She further advised the youth to promote the prestige and good name of Ghana and respect the national symbols.
Similar engagements were held at Presby JHS and R/C JHS at Nsawkaw, Tainso D/A JHS, Yabraso R/C JHS, and Hiamankyiri D/A JHS.
