Asante Kotoko have the best chance to win the league – Shilla Alhassan

Asante Kotoko have looked the likely candidate to claim the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League title following a remarkable start to the season.

Kotoko, who are chasing the premier league title for the first time in eight seasons, collected 13 points from their opening five matches – only drawing goalless against Karela United at the Crosby Awuah Memorial Park in week five.

They closed the first round of the season with a goalless draw against arch rivals, Asante Kotoko at the Accra Sports Stadium.

A 37 points haul has sent them atop of the log with seven points better than second place Bechem United and 12 above Hearts of Oak.

Shilla Alhassan believes KOTOKO will leave nothing to chance as far as breaking the eight trophy drought is concerned.

“If you look at Kotoko this season, out of one hundred percent, they stand an 80% chance of winning the league.

“Most of the young players have a lot of energy and they listen to their coach. “So it looks very possible that at the end of the second round, Kotoko will be able to win the league title.

Besides talking about Kotoko’s chances of winning the league, Shilla Alhassan raised the issue of the club’s prized assets of Cameroonian imports, Georges Mfegue and Franck Etouga. Alhassan is confident the Porcupine Warriors will not let go the two strikers as they will be key to their title ambitions which has eluded them for eight seasons.

“I’m not sure management will let go the players because they want to win the league.

“Last season, Kotoko transferred Kwame Poku but I don’t think that will happen this term. “Goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim should also be encouraged because he will help the team a great deal.” Shilla Alhassan told Abusua fm.

Kotoko pulled 11 wins, four draws and two losses this term after 17 matches. The record Ghana Premier League title holders [24 trophies] will host Dreams FC at the Baba Yara Stadium Stadium in their second round opener.

Kotoko came from a goal own to beat Dreams FC 3-1 in the first round at the Accra Sports Stadium.
