Africa Street MBA pitch competition: Nicholas Donkor emerges as the Overall Winner

Mr. Nicholas Donkor has won a Ghc 10,000.00 cash prize in the pitching competition of the Africa Street MBA (AfSMBA) accelerator programme at a ceremony in Accra.

Madam Abdul-Rahman Samiratu who placed 2nd had Ghc 7,000.00 and Patricia Benamba took Ghc 4,000.00 as the 3rd cash prize.

The beneficiaries in these are challenged to utilize the money as seed capital or start-ups to support their entrepreneurship venture which forms part of the financial capacity to support young Ghanaian entrepreneurs in their quest to become business giants in their chosen fields of endeavor.

Africa Street MBA (AfSMBA) is an initiative of DONE BY US with the primary goal of providing integrated regional support for start-ups and small businesses geared towards the provision of business development services and funding for young entrepreneurs in the country.

The programme was organized by Done By Us in collaboration with KGL Foundation and seeks to impart young people with world-class business knowledge based on top MBA curriculum and entrepreneurial course content.

AfSMBA has concluded a comprehensive Accelerator Programme for 19 entrepreneurs and has scheduled for the entrepreneurs to pitch and showcase their products and services to stakeholders and the public.

Briefing the media shortly after the program, the Founder of Done By Us, Mr. King A. Wellington said the beneficiaries of the program are largely people from poor backgrounds, low income women and people with low education but have smart business ideas and concepts as well as people already in business.

According to him, applicants are given entrepreneurship training programmes and forms part of the effort to unlock their business potential and was quick to explain that entrepreneurship is not all about money but also ties into problem solving.

He therefore expressed his gratitude to KGL Foundation and National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP) for their brilliant programmes and initiatives in transforming the lives of young Ghanaians through entrepreneurship.

For his part, the Director of Innovation at NEIP, Mr. David Antwi Ofori said there are job opportunities in the country in spite of the present economic challenges saying the youth must tap into the entrepreneurial space to enable them become game changers for the socio-economic growth of the country.

According to him, NEIP flagship programme dubbed the “Presidential Pitch have helped transformed the lives of many young people and have made huge strides in the entrepreneurial space and however urged the youth to engage NEIP for support by showcasing their products and business plans.

The Project Manager, KBL Foundation, Mr. Nii Ankonu Annorbah-Sarpei challenged the youth to roll out business ideas for financial support, adding that the gesture will also create a platform for them to be abreast with the emerging business trends in the job market.

He thus advised the youth to have a mindset of entrepreneurship, adding that the country and the world is driven by ideas for growth and development.
