AFCFTA Poised to Tackle Africa’s Power Sector Regulatory Challenges

According to the Francis Anatogu, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Trans International, the African Continental Free Trade Area (afcfta) has the capacity to address the regulatory bottlenecks hindering africa’s power sector growth.

Speaking at the africa prosperity dialogues 2025 conference, Mr. Anatogu emphasized that AFCFT Aprovides a framework and platforms to overcome the challenges facing power producers on the continent.

“Though challenges in the power sector exist, afcfta has the necessary framework and platforms to deal with them,” he noted.

Adding that, “AFCFTA was put in place to help deal with the bottlenecks and gaps affecting member countries.

“Power generating entities must take advantage of these platforms to help in building on existing power infrastructure.”

Mr. Anatogu also urged power generating entities to seek advice and guidance from the afcfta secretariat on how to utilize the available platforms to address their regulatory challenges.

The Africa Prosperity Dialogues 2025 conference is being held under the theme “delivering africa’s single market through infrastructure”.

The conference aims to promote dialogue and cooperation among african countries, the private sector, and development partners to accelerate the implementation of the afcfta and the african union’s agenda 2063.

The AfCFTA is a flagship project of the african union’s agenda 2063, which aims to create a single, unified market for the continent. the agreement is expected to promote economic integration, increase trade, and improve the lives of african citizens.
