US-Ghana Alumni Association launches Mentorship Programme in Accra

In efforts to harness the potential and skills of young alumni under the US-Ghana Alumni Association, a mentorship Programme has been launched in Accra.

Welcoming mentees and mentors at the launch, President of US-Ghana Alumni Association, Dr. Hilda Boye said, this programme is to bring the best of young Alumni as well as provide a platform to exhibit excellence, leadership, innovation, volunteering as well as partnership.

She therefore tasked all the mentees to make good use of this opportunity as well as improve and harness their potentials and skills for the benefits of their society.

Chairing the Mentorship Programme under the theme: The role of Mentorship  in the quest for excellence” in Accra Lt. Commander Kofi Amponsah Duodo bemoaned of the recent trend of young people not interested in mentorship.

Adding that, this have created seeming gap between the older generation and the younger generation which to him is worrying and disturbing in the country.

“Little has been done to address these challenges facing young people in the country”, he said.

Therefore, there is need for mentorship Programme to groom these young people to realize their potentials and skills as well build a dreams they desire for.

Mentorship Programme he noted is a key tool to address these challenges as well make a difference in our school, communities and societies.

On her part, the Public Affairs Counsellor of the US Embassy, Virginia Elliot tasked the US-Gh Alumni Association to provide avenue for young people in the Association to utilize and harness their potentials and skills for the benefit of their respective Community and society.

Adding that, everybody needs a mentor to realize their potentials and skills believing that, this would boost them.

US-Ghana Alumni Association launches Mentorship Programme & Modality in Accra

The Patron of the Mentorship Programme, Mrs. Gifty Anti encouraged the Association to ensure the project yield results and make an impact in the lives of young Alumni in the Association.

Adding that, one can only be great when he or she touches people’s lives, hence the project is needed.

The two year Mentorship Programme and Modality project aims to pair  twenty five young Alumni to twenty five older Alumni in respective field of interest.

Under the project, mentees and mentors are to engage once in a month as well as  interact to harness their potentials and skills.

In addition, quarterly evaluation of the project would be conducted ensure its smooth and continuous running of the project.
