The Executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde has moved to address the controversies surrounding the Olubadan Stool.
The Governor touched on the issue while addressing faithful Muslims which included members of his cabinet and highly ranked government officials at his Ikolaba residence on the occasion of Eid El Fitri on Wednesday, April 10.
Late Oba Olalekan Balogun Alli Okunmade 11 died on March 14, 2024, leaving the Olubadan Stool vacant since then.
A new king is expected to be enthroned according to traditional rites with the state Governor giving the final certification.
However, reports of a divide amongst the kingmakers have been making rounds with the first citizen of the state sending a serious warning to every individual trying to promote conflict over the process of installing a new king.
He however denied any sort of disunity amongst the kingmakers but revealed there’s yet to be any communication from the Olubadan-in-Council on nominees for the stool.
Following the passing of the 63rd king, a new Olubadan is expected to be installed as soon as possible but the process seems complicated more than first thought.
