The Foundation for Security and Development in Africa (FOSDA) has congratulated Commissioner of Police (COP)  Christian Tetteh Yohuno on his appointment as the new Inspector-General of Police (IGP).

In a statement, FOSDA’s Executive Director, Theodora W. Anti, commended the new IGP on his well-deserved appointment, citing his exceptional leadership and dedication to the ghana police service.

Mrs. Anti reiterated FOSDA commitment saying that “we believe that the new igp’s appointment is a step in the right direction towards transforming the police force and improving public trust.”

Adding “His leadership and expertise will be crucial in addressing the security challenges facing our country.”

This was contained in press release issued today, 18th March, 2025 in Accra.

FOSDA noted that the new IGP’s efforts to reduce crime and violence in ghana have been yielding positive results, as evident in the decline of violent incidents from 453 cases in 2023 to 379 cases in 2024.

The organization urged the new IGP to sustain these efforts, particularly in the ashanti, central, and greater accra regions, which have been identified as hotspots for violent incidents.

“Furthermore, we encourage the igp to prioritize collaboration with civil society organizations and the media to create partnerships for a improved police force and enhanced peace and security in ghana,” MrsmsAnti added.

FOSDA also emphasized the importance of addressing the root causes of crime and violence, such as poverty, unemployment, and social inequality.

“We believe that a comprehensive approach that addresses these underlying issues will be key to achieving sustainable peace and security in ghana,” ms. anti said.

FOSDA therefore reiterated its commitment to supporting the efforts of the new igp and the ghana police service to achieve a safe and secure ghana.

“We look forward to working closely with the new igp and his team to promote peace, security, and development in our country,” Ms. anti said.
