Zoomlion Ghana Limited has addressed concerns raised by operatives under the Sanitation Module of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), clarifying its role in the payment of allowances.
According to the waste management giant, the Government/YEA determines the allowances for YEA operatives, which are then released to Zoomlion for distribution.
The company manages the operatives’ daily activities and provides necessary logistics, such as uniforms and tools, but does not control the payment amount or timing.
This was contained in a Press release issued on 3rd October 2024 by the Communications Directorate in Accra.
According to the release, allowances are set by the Government/YEA and released to Zoomlion for payment. Zoomlion does not influence the amount or timing of these payments.
On working hours, the release explained that YEA operatives work four hours daily and do not work on Sundays, and if required to work beyond their contracted hours, they receive additional allowances and, in some cases, lunch.
“Zoomlion has provided support in cases of death or injury, including financial assistance for medical treatment, even though it is not contractually required. Operatives also receive gifts at the end of each year”, the release stated.
For commitment to YEA Workers, the waste management giant indicated that they have partnered with the YEA for nearly two decades, ensuring timely salary payments and investing in the professional development of YEA workers through training programs.
In addition, Zoomlion sponsors YEA operatives to visit countries like Belarus and Russia to enhance their waste management skills and on delayed Payments, the release explained that Zoomlion acknowledges delays in allowance payments in some regions, attributing them to the government’s disbursement schedule.
“The company has occasionally secured loans to pre-finance allowances as a humanitarian gesture“, it revealed.
“Zoomlion reassures YEA operatives and the public of its commitment to supporting operatives within the agreed framework and will continue to work with the government to ensure timely payments. They emphasize the importance of constructive dialogue to address concerns and maintain the company’s reputation”.
“Zoomlion remains dedicated to delivering world-class waste management services and upholding the highest standards of service“, the release assured.
