John Dramani Mahama, the flag bearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has mocked the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) for publishing what he calls “fake opinion polls” to deceive Ghanaians.

He says the government has been shivering over the credible surveys about the elections which have all predicted victory for the NDC, making the government also manufacture some figures in its favour.

According to Mahama, the supposed surveys tilting in the favour of the NPP cannot be attributed to any persons, unlike the credible ones from credible organizations that have placed the NDC as victors in the upcoming elections.

John Mahama, speaking to residents of Gbintri of the Gambaga Nalerigu constituency as part of his campaign to the North East region Wednesday, October 02, 2024, said the sentiments from the people from the places he has visited show the NDC is winning the upcoming elections.

That, he says, coupled with the opinion polls being churned out by the respective survey institutions placing the NDC ahead of the NPP is what has forced the government to resort to fake polls to deceive Ghanaians.

“All the regions I have been to, have assured us that they are going change the government on 7th December 2024 and bring the NDC back to come and continue the good work we were doing when we had the reigns of government.

“All the credible opinion polls have predicted that NDC is going to win. And so because of that the NPP and government have started publishing fake opinion polls,” he stated.

He urged Ghanaians to ignore the polls saying they are not credible.

“Opinion polls that have no methodology, Opinion polls where you cannot find the people who did the research. And so, ignore all those fake opinion polls. Everything indicates and every credible institution; Economic Intelligence Unit, Fitch Solutions, Global InfoAnalytics and

“Every proper, credible opinion poll shows that NDC is going to win the election,” he stated.

John Mahama, however, advised party members not to be complacent about the poll outcomes.

He admonished all to police the ballots on election day until the last vote is counted before leaving the premises to ensure the choice of the people is not subverted.

“But of course, we must not be complacent. We must protect every single person’s vote. And that’s why I say in this election, all of us are going to be polling agents.

“We are not going to select just two polling agents to go and sit there and all of us will go home and sleep. We’ll stay there until every vote is counted and the results declared,” he stated.
