He joined the GFA in 2006 as Editor of the GFA’s first ever publication, GFA News before later becoming the GFA Website’s Editor.

He was later appointed Spokesperson of the Ghana Premier League and also deputy to former Communications Director, Ibrahim Sannie Daara.

Before joining the GFA, Tamimu rose through the ranks from a reporter and a columnist to become Editor of the then popular and influential Soccer Express newspaper owned by former Asante Kotoko Chairman Herbert Mensah.

Tamimu holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications from the African University College of Communications. He also holds a Masters Degree in Communications from the School of Communications Studies, University of Ghana.will

Tamimu recently authored A Gift To A Nation, the much-talked about biography of Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, the National Chief Imam of Ghana, and he has announced his second book on football public relations in Ghana.

As part of his job, Tamimu is expected to lead his team for the restructuring of the Communications Department, respond to official enquiries as well as address issues relating to media and communications.

He is also expected to lead and intensify the GFA’s new media approach in reaching out to its stakeholders through social media, as well as coordinate the operations of media officers for the various GFA domestic competitions.

Tamimu is said to have contributed immensely to the evolution of GFA Communications from separate units from 2006, to a full department in 2012, with Ibrahim Sannie Daara as head until 2018.
