His Royal Majesty Eze, Dr. Jude Chukwudi Ihenetu, the King of Igbo Community in Ghana, has called on African leaders to use the COVID-19 Corona Virus to strengthen their health facilities for the betterment of all.
According to him, the time has come for Africa to depend on what to do for itself and the Coronavirus has come to teach us a lesson on the need to strengthen our health and other sectors.
As a result of the pandemic, he noted people can no longer travel abroad for medical care or check-ups, be it the rich, the politician or the poor hence the need to see the pandemic as a wake-up call to set up a strong health facility.
To him, it will not take Africa anything to equip its hospitals and make the health sectors strong.
The Africa continent he acknowledged is blessed with rich resources like gold, diamond, timber, oil and other rich resources which can be used to provide good healthcare.
The Igbo King in Ghana therefore appealed to African leaders to use the the fight against the novel, Coronavirus as an opportunity to equip its medical facilities and centres adding, Africa has the best medical doctors all over the world but due to improper health facilities for them to practice has made them move to abroad.
Hence it is time for Africa to use what it has to improve the living conditions of its people.
Africa, he said has best brains but needs to bring the best out of its people by way of practicing what we are and what God has giving us.
He express worried over why Africa in time like this are waiting for hand sanitizer, face masks and ventilators to come from Europe, Asia and other parts of the world which can be manufactured in Africa. He added that how sure are we as Africans that those items are not contaminated by viruses and diseases.
He said Africa has the best function designers and people who can manufacture face masks and sanitizers but due to financial constraints, they are unable to manufacture those products.
